Olimpia No. 1, my handmade brooch

Szeretek régi divatlapokat, illusztrációkat keresni a weben. Egyrészt szeretem a régi idők hangulatát, másrészt rendkívül inspiratívan hatnak rám.

És miért No.1?

I made another brooch and I used again an illustration from the Twenties as an inspiration. Meet Olimpia in her little white cloche hat.
I adore old fashion plates and illustrations and search often on the web for them. It's very inspirational.
However when I look at the edges the beads are not completely even like I intended to finish it. Maybe this I will fix again. It's not the first time that I unpick parts of the work to stitch the correct symmetry.

And why No.1? I like the pattern very much and will stitch it in another color combination. The tiny stitches are always different and every single piece will differ and have her own personality.

Joining the Historical Sew Monthly challenge

Emellett mindig is érdekelt a történelmi divat, ahogy a társadalmi változások visszatükröződnek egyes viseletekben illetve általános divatban.

There is a sewing challenge ongoing for years which I'm following for a long time, this is the Historical Sew Monthly.Trumpets please, this year I'm joining as well. It will be an interesting and thrilling journey for a lot of reasons for me.
First of all, I always adored the work of others, mostly of fellow bloggers, but never sewed a historical garment myself. Challenge, I should write it in capital letters only. I'm not sure if I realize how many work, patience and love is sewn in a full garment.
Besides of that I'm interested in historical fashion, how changes in society are mirrored in everyday fashion. Only the 20th century and the last decades especially were so liberal, that you can wear almost everything you want to. In the past rules were more strict. Because of these reasons I joined the challenge and because it sounds like a lot of fun. I see a lot of wonderful historical garments in my imagination.
The original idea comes from this great blog where you can find also the full list for every month of the year with listed instructions.
Below is my list devided in monthly challenges.

Historical Sew Monthly 2017

Whatever I decide to make, this challenge will be an easy one to fulfill. Everything I choose as a project will be my first attempt in historical sewing. Only difficulty is that I need to work on the first 3 months at the same time.

February: Re-make, Re-use, Re-Fashion - Valószínűleg valamiféle alsóneműt készítek lepedőből, terítőből, megalapozva az öltözet egészét.
I think of making some undergarment of cotton tablecloth or sheets.

March: The Great Outdoors - Hm, talán egy kalap vagy kesztyű? Sosem csináltam még ilyet.
Maybe a hat or gloves? Never did something like those before.

The first thing which came into my mind was 1920s underwear made out of rectangles. I saw a lot of tutorials on the web recently.

About this challenge I really need to think. There are so many options and it would be nice to combine it with a challenge of another month.

Another difficult challenge, research and some imagination is required.

I'm still researching, deciding, but if I' going to sew a full garment it will be probably 18th century or turn of the Teens and Twenties.

August: Ridiculous - Miféle képtelen ötletre gondoljak itt? Van ötletetek?
What could that mean? Any suggestion?

September: Seen on Screen -  Ez a kihívás filmes kihívássá alakul, végig kell néznem néhány régi és pár új kedvencet. Mindent a cél érdekében.
This challenge will evolve to a movie-challenge it seems. I will re-watch some old favourites and new loves. Everythign for the sake of the cause.

October: Out of Your Comfort Zone - Ha például egy korzett is kikerül a kezeim alól októberig, az biztosan a komfortzónámon kívülre esik majd.
If I really decide to make a stay, that will be definitely out of my comfort zone. Never tried something difficult like this.  But let's go for it.

November: HSF Inspiration - Csatlakoztam a HSF hivatalos FB oldalához, onnan várok sok inspirácót.
I signed up for the official HSF FB page, that's the source where I hope to get a lot of inspiration from other sewists.

December: Go Wild - Hordtak a 18. században leopárdmintás holmikat? Újabb kutatásnak nézek elébe.
Was animal print in fashion in the 18th century? Again, my list for research is growing.

The list might be changed as the year flies by, but hopefully not my enthusiasm.
